ONCE A KING OR QUEEN IN

NARNIA,

ALWAYS A KING OR QUEEN.

This will be the longest scene to watch but to me it is the most exciting. Begin the DVD at scene “Battle for Narnia”, and then stop the DVD just after Aslan proclaims them Queens and Kings of Narnia. Once again in case you do not have the DVD click on the three scenes above, left to right.

Let me explain what is going on.The great battle for Narnia begins as the two great armies meet on the battlefield. Peter, in his wisdom of the battle, tricks the Witch and her army in to the rocks where there is little room for fighting in great numbers; however, in all the fighting Edmund tries to defeat the Witch on his own and even though he breaks her magic wand she injures Edmund. Edmund is dying from his wound.

Meanwhile, at the stone table, where Aslan was killed, it cracks and Aslan is resurrected from the dead. He, Susan and Lucy travel back to the castle of the Witch and heals all the creatures turned to stone by the Witch’s wand. This great army and Aslan, with Susan, Lucy and Mr. Tumnus, travel to the battle and there defeats the Witch and she is killed. Edmund is cured by the magical juice that Father Christmas gave to Lucy and they travel to Castle Cair Paravel, where they are Crowned Kings and Queens of Narnia.

Lesson Principle

Now that you are a Christian, born again into God’s Family, you need to realize that you will never be lost again. Just like Peter, Edmund, Susan and Lucy, who are forever Kings and Queens in the story of Narnia, you too are forever in God’s eternal family.  In this scene all four are crowned Kings and Queens of Narnia. They marched down an isle that leads them past Aslan and to four thrones. It is here that Aslan told not just the four that they would always be kings and queens, but he told everyone this fact. A Declaration, or announcement, that became law, a law that could not be broken no matter what Peter, Edmund, Susan or Lucy did, or anyone else as a matter of fact.

Now let us take this fact of the film and story and see how that connects to you.

Bible Principle

In the scriptures, the Bible, God tells us the same thing about being a child of God. Jesus says it is like our physical birth in to our family and the physical world. Jesus gave us eternal life in His family, which is your right never to be lost.

Look in your Bible in John chapter 3 for this proof as Jesus speaks with Nicodemus about getting in to heaven.

In John 3, verses 3 to 6, we find these words.

3. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4. Nicodemus saith unto him, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God!

6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Let me put those verses another way.

“Jesus answered him and said, Listen up, I say to you that unless a person is born in his or her spirit, changed to someone who is without sin, he, or she, will never enter heaven where God is now, where sin cannot enter.

Nicodemus said, How can an old man go inside his mother and be born a second time; that’s impossible. Jesus said to him, a person needs to be born again in his spirit, having his sins washed away. When a person is born as a baby he is a man or woman, but when someone is born in his or her spirit, he or she is a spiritual person not of flesh but spirit created by the Holy Spirit of God.

You see, Jesus was saying that just as you have “One” physical birth, you can only have “One” spiritual birth, and you must have that spiritual birth to be able to go to heaven.

Let us look at the ways this spiritual birth is the same as a physical birth.

  1. Both are ways we enter in to a new world, the physical world and the spiritual world.

  2. Both can only happen “once”. You cannot be born in to your family several times no more than you can be born in to God’s family over and over.

  1. Both have families to be a part of when someone is born.

So you see that once you are in God’s family you will always be in God’s family.

Application

When we trust in Jesus Christ and we are saved, our eternal security in Jesus becomes a spiritual truth whether we understand it or not. Your belief in your security in Jesus does not make it true or false, it is what the Bible says that makes it true. The Bible says that salvation is in Jesus’ work on the cross, not how good you are every day. If we have trusted in the person and work of Jesus on the cross to be saved, security is a fact.

This is very important because you may not always feel like you belong to God’s family. You may do some bad things, sins, or someone may hurt your feelings and make you think you’re an outsider; but, no matter what happens you can always have the guarantee that you will always be a child of God.

Hebrews 13:5 says,

5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

In other words, Don’t live your life for selfish reasons but be happy with all the blessings you have from God; For Jesus himself has said that He will never leave you alone or stop caring about you.

John 10:28-30

28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand.  29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.

What the Bible is saying here is that you cannot ever be out of God’s or Jesus’ protection or family. Back in Jesus’ days when he lived on earth and before he went back to heaven, to snatch something from someone’s hand meant that something was either taken away or stolen.

Jesus was saying that not you, or me, or your parents, or even the devil can take us from Jesus and God.

TO ME THAT IS GREAT NEWS!

Let us look at another very important fact that will help you in discovering the peace of always being God’s child.

Assurance in Jesus’ work on the Cross!

Assurance is when you have no doubt, mistrust in Jesus. Your understanding of the work that Jesus did on the cross for you helps you have this assurance. It, Assurance, is the promise of what we have in Jesus because of His cross. Here is what we have in Jesus’ work on the cross. We have eternal life, forgiveness of all our sins, and being the object of God’s personal, special care as his children. Assurance has to do with our trust of the fact of Jesus’ death and resurrection saved us and that salvation is forever. This is very important for you to know because there will be times when the Devil will tempt you to doubt.

APPLICATION PART 2

There is another important part to being saved besides knowing you will never be lost again. There will be times in your life that you may feel like you are not saved. Be very careful about feelings.

Feelings change all the time but Jesus and God’s Word

(The Bible) will never change. That is why “Assurance” is so important. That is why that no matter how you “Feel” the facts remain the same, they “CANNOT” change!

Remember these points when feelings come and they try to make you “FEEL” like you are not saved.

  1. Jesus will “ALWAYS” love you and KEEP you a Christian. Even when we sin we are not pushed out of his family. Hey, when you are bad and your parents discipline you are you ever “NOT” their child. Of course not, that’s just silly.

  2. Jesus gives us, not temporary life, but he gives us

“ETERNAL LIFE”. That means, well, your spirit will live forever and ever. We can change in our feelings but we can never run out of eternal life. Think of it like this, even when you are sad, are you still in your family?

What about angry, happy, bad, good, or down in the dumps? Of course things do not change you being or not being in your family, and it is the same with God’s family.

Here are some more verses for you to read carefully.

(1) Eternal life.

John 3:36 The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath remains on him.

John 5:24 “I tell you the solemn truth, the one who hears my message and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, but has crossed over from death to life.

 (2) A child of God by faith.

John 1:12 But to all who have received him—those who believe in his name—he has given the right to become God’s children

Romans 8:14-17 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16. The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children. 17. And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ)—if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with him.

1 John 5:11-13: "And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life. I write this to you who believe in the Son of God; so that you may know you have eternal life"

If you are struggling with questions of doubt and you are not sure you are saved, pray a prayer similar to this in your own words:

“Dear God, I’m not sure if I am Your child. I believe that you sent Your Son Jesus to earth to die for my sins. I believe that He rose from the dead and is offering me eternal life. I accept Him as my Savior. Thank You for forgiving me and giving me life with you eternally. Help me to have assurance that you have answered my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Maybe you are sure but you want to stop the doubting at times because of your feelings. Pray a prayer like this, in your own words of course:

Dear God, I know that I am saved but I still get times when I doubt. Help me to trust your word and promise of eternal life. I love you God and I trust your Word the Bible, which tells me I have eternal life in Jesus.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

DIGGING DEEPER ACTIVITY

Think of Some Ways That Being in Your Family and Being in God’s Family Are Similar. List Them as You Think Of Them.

Think of some feelings and write them down; then, ask the question, “Can any of them make me not a Christian?”  Put a yes beside the ones that can and a no beside the ones that cannot. I think you will find that none of the feelings that you will have will make you not saved anymore. That is like your family telling you that because you are sad you cannot be in the family anymore. How ridiculous is that idea.

Now, you may look at this as being the very end of your journey in to learning about the Christian Life or you could look at it this way.

Just like Peter, Susan and Lucy were given gifts to use you too have been given some tools to travel with and where you go from here is up to you. The tools of Bible study, prayer, attending church, and other things you have learned can make the Christian life one that is exciting and fun or it can be one of sadness. If you continue to sin and do what your selfish flesh wants all your life you will be unhappy; or, you can try to live like Jesus wants you too and be happy and glad.

So you see, the choice is not mine, your parents or your friends, it is up to you.

Take what you have learned and go have fun with Jesus leading the way. Now you have entered the great journey of life.
